How does the Communauto + Vanpackers rental work?

Check availability then book your Communauto, or vice-versa.

Our conversion kits are designed to fit perfectly into selected Communauto models.

We will spend 30 minutes with you at our offices in Montreal to install the kit and explain how to use it so that you can set off on your trip with complete peace of mind. We are located at 8375 Langelier blvd., St-Leonard (Mtl), H1P 2C3

What’s included in the kit?

✅ Each kit comes with: a double bed platform, mattresses, propane stove, electric cooler, water tank, sink and an indoor/outdoor table. Blackout curtains only for the Kia Carnival.

❌ Not included: utensils, cookware, chairs, sleeping bags, etc. → Bring your own or rent them from our partner Locapaq for a complete camping equipment set.

What’s not included in the rental?

Here’s what you’ll need to bring for your trip:

🧑‍🍳 Cooking gear

  • Plates, bowls, mugs, glasses

  • Coffee maker

  • Cutlery (forks, knives, spoons)

  • Dishcloths / towels

  • Cooking utensils: spatula, large spoon, pot, pan, lid

  • A good kitchen knife

  • Scissors

  • Bottle opener

  • Can opener

  • Propane canisters (1 lb / 16 oz) — available at convenience stores or retailers like Walmart and Canadian Tire 😊

🛏 Sleeping gear

  • Sheets

  • Pillows

  • Blanket

  • Small lamp

  • Bath towel

🧰 Practical gear

  • Camping chairs

  • Bug spray

What are the rates and minimum rental period?

🕒 Minimum rental: 3 nights/4 days

Important: no departures or returns on Saturdays or Sundays.

  • Minivan (Kia Carnival): Public price 95$ +tx/night. Communauto price: 71,25$ +tx/night (25% off)

  • Compatible SUVs: Public price: 70$ +tx/night. Communauto price: 52,50$ + tx/night (25% off)

Do I need to pay upfront? Is there a deposit?

Yes. Full payment and a $500 security deposit are required at the time of booking (credit card only).

The deposit is refunded within 7 business days after return, assuming the kit is clean and undamaged (see our T&C for more details) 

What is the cancellation policy?

⏱ Within 48 hours of booking: full refund

➡️ Up to 7 days before departure: The deposit is refundable, and the reservation can be postponed or canceled (cancellation fee of $75 + tax).

⚠️ Less than 7 days before departure: The deposit is refundable, but the total cost of the reservation is non-refundable.
